Salsa

The captivating and hypnotic music of Salsón draws listeners into rich, polyrhythms and melodies; not letting go until they are moving in time to the irresistible pulse  of the clave. The name for the group is derived fromthe combination of two elements: the slang meaning of the word “salsón”, which can be said about a really hot Salsa tune and the band’s perfect blend of Salsa and Son-Montuno. The ingredients that go into Salsón are taken from many rhythms such as Guaguanco, Mambo, Charanga, Guajira and Cha-Cha.  Salsón’s repertoire varies from traditional Cuban Classics to modern Salsa standards. Drawing from a collection of great Latin Artists like the Buena Vista Social Club, Tito Puente, Fania All-Stars, Celia Cruz, Beny Moré, and Eddie Palmieri, they strive to maintain the authenticity of the genre.  Salsón’s members all share a deep respect and integrity for the music they perform and consider themselves to be, in essence, keepers of the Salsa flame.
