and uncle Sal met almost 3.5 years ago in Los Osos. Sal used to play in LA
art
rock group Downy Mildew, playing and kicking it with such notable acts as Natalie Merchant (with 10,000 maniacs), the Pixies, Grant Lee, Mazzy Star, Michael Stipe (Downy was a favorite group of his..He also directed one of their videos called “mincing steps”), and others.. we started Belac and posies about two years ago...i began writing songs, which he must’ve liked a little because he started recording them in his living room and playing his fiddle and mandolin along with them..Sometimes we played outside in the garden..We started playing the san ludicrous nabisco (San Luis Obispo if you’re being critical) coffee house scene in early 99, frequenting Linaea’s cafe, among others, as well as playing in lots of other small venues in slo.
