Wow, What a festival!!!
We were blessed with a beautiful sunny day to start things off early in the morning. Locals, JND, kicked off the show, followed by Trance Zen Dance from Santa Cruz. $3 Sierra Nevada beers flowed, while everyone enjoyed fish tacos by our sidestage sponosor, Ruddell's Smokehouse. The sunny day held strong throughout. Skerik freaked us all out by yelling crazy things about the sea people. SambaDa, from Santa Cruz, kept the vibe going with an extended Brazilian hoe down. Vinyl blew it up with 1hr 45 minute set. The town allowed me to push the show an extra 1/2 hour into the sunset. Skerik's horn section joined Vinyl for the encore. 8 horns at once on stage!!!
The sunset was the best I had seen in months on the ocean. The whole sky turned a vibrant orange, then pink.

Special thanks to everyone that took part in the event and everyone who supported the day with their $10 cover. These shows can't happen without many people coming together!!!

Big cheers to our main sponsors, Sierra Nevada, Drum Circuit and Ruddell's Smokehouse!

Special thanks to all the following businesses/people who helped out:
KCPR, New Frontiers, KOTR FM, Trader Joes, New Times, Charter Communications, Kristen and Red Bull, Farm Supply, Tammy and Sylvester Winery, Tree Man in Atascadero, Railroad Cafe, Eyes on the World (in Grover Beach), Balloon Delights, Central Coast Beer Distributors, Pac west Sound, Adam K and Minds Eye on side stage sound. Also, Patrick, Julie, Kelly and Bryan holding down the gates, many friends who volunteered time or tapestries for decorations, Marc Ray on Video, Magic Ryan Miller, Greg Dillman, Christy Arnoldussen for her brilliant art work, Charlie Clingman, and Dennis Kehoe for donating thier surfboard and painting to the raffle...and many more!!!
We hope to have you all back next time...

All this could not be possible without
The Cayucos Chamber of Commerce and Trees for Cayucos,
and my partners in crime, Mitch Barnett and Joyce Lane!!!

Peace, Love and Fish Tacos!
Great Times...Great Music!!!

Review by Jason W-SbMusicPhreaks

I attended the Cayucous Fest this past weekend. What a great festival. The stages were set up behind some
buildings right next to the beach while some big waves
were crashing up onto the shore. And of course, there
was a beautiful sunset. It doesn't get any better
than watching a great sunset over the ocean while a
massive multi-brass jam session keeps your booty
shaking.

The festival had Sierra Nevada beer available for $3 a
glass. $3 for a glass of Celebration. You won't find
that at any other festival. Could you imagine if the
SB Bowl were to do that. Only a "family" organization
will give you the cheap prices.

The bands were loving everything about it. There was
a very positive crowd who were really paying attention
to the music. When they weren't, they were enjoying
some great smoked fish tacos. Very tasty.

Thanks need to go out to Kevin and the whole crew
behind the Cayucous Music Fest. This was the fourth
year for it, I believe. It really seems to be
catching on. I know I will be there again next year.

How about that Skerik. Wow. Madman and genius are
the only two words that come to mind. I have never
even heard a lot of the sounds he was creating with
his saxophone. Not from a sax or anywhere else. I
spoke with the Baritone sax player waiting in line for
the port a potty at Cayucous and let him know that
they have a lot of fans in Santa Barbara and asked him
to please come back. He seemed very pleased that they
were enjoyed out here. Hopefully, they will be able
to make it again.

If you missed that, try to catch them some other way.
They have a CD that's available. They're playing
jazz, but they take it to a different place. It's
hard to describe. Pretty intense jamming. With
Skerik doing what he's doing, it's quite a scene.
You'll have to find out for yourself.

Peace, love and fish tacos.
Jason
